If you’re like me, and have a soft spot for films in the same vein of A Quiet Place, then you also love to watch a few poor souls hiding from the monsters that are roaming the world.
Monsters is similar in that way. The plot follows Jenn, who lives in an underground bunker with her family, protected from the monsters that now ravage the world. This is the day that she goes outside.
The film, which is directed by Steve Desmond, from a script by Desmond and Michael Sherman, premiered at ScreamFest in 2016. It’s actually a pleasant surprise, having some clever twists which has you asking yourself are those who are protecting you really the monsters? Or is it not a good idea to jump to conclusions?
The one thing the film does lack is geniune scares, as there seems to be a lack of tension is the bits the filmmakers try to build up. However, it’s still a solid short film.
