REVIEW: Look-See S2:Ep1

It’s safe to say that Look-See has become one of Crypt TV’s most popular web-series. Since the release of the first season, there have been countless theory videos, animated versions and it has racked up a whole lot of views. Episode 1 of Season 2 has already collected over 300k views alone since its debut last Friday; but has the hype become too much?

Simple answer is no. Season 2 has picked up right where Season 1 left off. This time we take a trip back to the 1920s. It continues to be unsettling, due to the fact that Landon Stahmer has a unique style in his directing. All the pieces just seem to fall right into place, from the script to the music (which tingles at the nerves). And that’s what’s fascinating about this series as a whole: Stahmer has the audience in the palm of hand. His ability to write such a crisp and precise story allows him to set up a foundation and build from it. The mystery is still there, and we’re left with more theories than answers, which will only have the public returning and more theory videos published. However, it’s done in a way that’s relevant to the story; it isn’t mysterious just for the sake of it.

Look-See is back, and it’s ever-so creepy and unsettling. If there’s one criticism to point out, it’s that there was an expectation to see what James Janisse (Dead Meat James) could do, but he wasn’t given much to work with. There’s hope that we can more of him in future episodes. It’s only a minor complaint though. There’s a well-crafted filmmaker at the helm, and THC can’t wait to see what Stahmer has in store for us.
